I spent most of it playing Pearls Fortune but I did have quite a bit of time to work through the ruleset. A couple of things that did take some time to go through with a new player were the mechanics of the Pearls Fortune play-through: 1. There didn't appear to be a "catch phrase" in the rules which made the dice rolls easier, but we tried to ignore them. Dolphins Pearl has the usual Novomatic control panel like all Novomatic slots. Rather than using a catch phrase, we simply kept rolling until we got both sides of the dice, the player on the flip always wins, and we played through until both sides were the same result! This meant that after playing through several days our opponents would have their paychecks rolled twice, leaving us waiting for each subsequent payout. 2. While the Dice were certainly fun, the Rope really turned the play-through into something much deeper. When rolling dice each round, the Rope provided a way to see what was in play and how players would fare.

We had several rounds while we played Pearls Fortune which would have involved us doing the Rope as thoughwere rolling the dice and then rolling the dice again. The Rope allowed us to see the progress of the Pearls Fortune and then allow additional play to continue with our pearls. 3. Pearl Lagoon is coming soon on iOS, iPhone and iPad. Pearls were the big deal. So many players just didn't seem to know what to do with them.

With so many different kinds of pearls to spend, ere not always sure which would be a better game to use in conjunction with something like Pearls Fortune. While we felt that players with different playstyles may find Pearls Fortune more fun, I know that it just wasn't for me until I found myself in a situation where multiple pearls were not in play, so I can't say that Pearls Fortune will appeal to players who like to try something different.
