Playtech Slots: What's New From One of the World's Biggest Providers

Playtech has been in the news a lot recently. The casino software developer has been subject to many takeover rumors, including a bid from former Formula One team boss Eddie Jordan. The company remains a fixture on the London Stock Exchange and, of course, one of the foremost developers of casino games and iGaming infrastructure in the world.

But while the takeover talks are ongoing, Playtech’s studios have been busy churning out popular casino games. Playtech is somewhat unique among providers, particularly in that it does not license its games to every casino. It carefully selects its partners. Nonetheless, Playtech games can be found on some of the world’s best slots sites. And below, we look at some of the newest games from the developer. Please note that not all games have been released yet; some are scheduled to arrive at online casinos this fall:

The Walking Dead 2

If you know Playtech, you’ll know that it creates more premium branded slots than any other provider. The selection includes games like The Walking Dead, based on the characters and events of the popular zombie-themed television series. That release last year was so successful that Playtech decided to release a sequel, The Walking Dead 2. What we like about this one is the huge range of bonus features and special reel-modifiers. Like the tv show, it’s packed full of action.

Frank Bruno Sporting Legends

Playtech’s Sporting Legends range is a must for fans of all types of sports. The earliest games featured Frankie Dettori, Ronnie “Rocket” O’Sullivan and Tony “AP” McCoy. Others have followed, but few pack a punch as much as boxing legend Frank Bruno. The game is set to drop at most Playtech online casinos by the end of the summer, and we can’t wait to see what the developer does with the boxing-themed bonus games.

Rulers of the World Empire Treasures

Another trait of Playtech’s is that of world-building. Just as with video games, the developer tends to create interlinked worlds, stories, and characters. We have seen this with both the Age of the Gods and Kingdoms Rises series of slots, both of which have their own jackpot network. It’s a similar story here with Rulers of the World Empire Treasures, which links together tales of the ancients like Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, and the Roman Caesars. Lots of bonus games in this one too.

King Blitz

As with all casino game developers, Playtech is not immune to the concept of “if it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it.”. That’s the case here with King Blitz, which is a lion-themed version of the smash-hit release Buffalo Blitz. It follows other similar releases, like Shark Blitz. Both have Buffalo Blitz’s signature 5625 Ways to Win across the paylines. Be aware, though, that “Blitz” games are highly volatile. The wins can be huge, but the volatility means your bankroll can take a hit too.

Fire Fighter Fire Blaze

This game is from the Fire Blaze Classics range, which has been growing in popularity in recent years. The game has excellent animations, interesting gameplay features, and it has its own jackpot network (another laudable trait from Playtech). The jackpots aren’t as big as those from Age of the Gods or Kingdoms Rise, but they are still pretty hefty, and the game mechanics ensure that they are – a little – easier to win.
