World Series Of Poker 2023

The 54th annual WSOP is well underway in Las Vegas. The Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino host this year's WSOP. It started on May 30th and there has been great excitement, upsets and even some emotional moments. The event will end on July 18th, so a good couple of weeks remain as per this online poker sites guide prepared by agamble.

Last year's event saw 197,626 entrants with a record $347.9 million total prize pool. This year the WSOP organizers went all out with 24/7 live cash games and a permanent Hall of Fame poker room at the Horseshoe Las Vegas.

Updates and Upsets

Brian Rast had an incredible run in No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em, which saw him at the top of the leaderboard, taking the WSOP $50,000 Pokers Player Championship a third time for $1,324,747. He’s the 20th player to have won six or more titles. At the same time, Kristopher Tong had to settle for fifth place behind James Obst.

But no one was surprised as much as Chris Brewer as he won the WSOP $250,000 super higher roller, netting an incredible $5.29 million. Judging by his emotional interview after winning, he had wanted this for a long time. He deserves this win, looking back at his losses in the past couple of years, including that famous bubble exit when he lost to Doug Polk earlier in the series. This is his biggest win to date and his first bracelet.

Veteran player Yang Zhang won his first bracelet in the NLHE event, netting a cool $717,879.

Another firm favorite is Daniel Negreanu, who has over $20 million in earnings.

Some exciting events to look out for are the $1,500 seven-card stud hi-lo 8 or better on June 24th. The following day, the $25,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha should attract many seasoned players and be interesting to watch.
